Wash, Spin, Repeat

One of the daily rituals of a bike trip is the post-ride washing out of the bike clothes in the hotel-room sink. I have it down to a science, and have learned to bring along a bungy cord to create an instant clothes line for drying. I’ve noticed that my Pelotonia jersey drys really fast.

This is the view from the top of the Gorges de la Nesque, looking down across the valley toward Sault, one of the base towns of Mont Ventoux. I’ve climbed to the top of the Ventoux twice, and will attempt the three times in a day thing this weekend.

It was cold and cloudy yesterday at the top of Mount Ventoux (that’s it on the left, covered in clouds), but I made it to the top in 2 hours and 2 minutes. I think all that training on the Hocking Hills helped. Today I plan to ride to the top from a different base town. Hopefully it will be warm and clear at the sommet.

Mystery Solved

Filed under: Photos, Steve's Stuff — The Blog @ 3:33 PM

We now know the identity of the owner of this tattoo (scroll down a few ports for the back story). It’s Ross Chase – and here’s the story…

Hello all, that would be my tattoo – gets a lot of comments on rides !

A couple of years ago, this was the design on the TOSRV* shirt.

I had wanted a tattoo for a long time, just couldn’t find one I thought I could live with forever.

I had started cycling again about 6 years ago, riding the Tour, etc. Saw the design, and realized that was something that really moved me.
Cycling has become my way of staying sane – If the day is getting to me, I can see the tattoo and know the next ride is coming – adrenaline and endorphins, gotta love ‘em !!

Stay safe out there.

Ross

*TOSRV is the annual Tour of the Sciota River Valley ride, a 2-day, 200-plus mile ride from Columbus to Portsmouth and back held every May.
