Me And The Ventoux

Well, today is the end of the bike-riding portion of my trip. It’s been pretty amazing – and I hope you enjoyed my posts from France and exploits on the Ventoux. Has it inspired any of you to make an attempt?

Yesterday I made one last trip up the mountain (once was enough!) … and it was so much warmer and calmer than Saturday and Monday that it was almost, dare I say it … easy. Cancel that … it wasn’t easy, but I only had to battle the mountain, and not the elements. The guy at the cafe near the top told me that on Saturday (the day of my first attempt for three times) the wind was so fierce that trees fell over in the forest. “Right onto the road?” I asked. I don’t think he understood and repeated that trees fell over in the forest. “It was very dangerous,” he said.

No kidding!

Here’s a few last photos of the mighty Ventoux…
