Why We Walk – The Susan Komen Race for the Cure

Filed under: Photos, Steve's Stuff — The Blog @ 5:57 PM

I spent this morning Downtown, doing the annual Susan G. Komen Race (and walk) For the Cure … of breast cancer. It was amazing to be part of something so big and overwhelming. Mrs. The Rider (aka: Susan) is a 9-year breast cancer survivor and brought me along – and I’m glad I went, although I’m still not sure why anyone would want to walk 3.1 miles when you can ride a bike! Oh well – there’s more than one way to help kick cancer’s butt. They say there were 50,000 participants, but it sure seemed like a lot more than that to me, as we became a pink river of people flowing through and flooding Downtown. Here are a few photos…

It was all about the hair - pink of course - during the walk

It's amazing what people united for a cause can accomplish

Even our canine friends were pitching in to help - and dressed in pink
